Wellbeing and pastoral care

To be successful learners students must feel safe and secure. Therefore, the safety and well-being of students as a key priority is paramount. As well as providing pastoral and educational growth, we provide a full-time nurse to afford outstanding care to our students throughout the day and a student support team consisting of the Social Worker and section supervisor who monitor the wellbeing of our students and follow up on any concerns. The Vice Principal has an open-door policy where students, staff, parents, prospective students, and parents are welcome at any time.

Activities and clubs

Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are an integral part of the total education program. Only through a wide range of extra-curricular activities are our students given a real love of learning and self-development. Clubs and activities are offered to learners after school with several events honoring national identity and culture taking place during school hours. LISQ makes a genuine effort to offer clubs that appeal to all learners. Students also have opportunities to participate in field trips, virtual activities, and regional competitions in our wider community. LISQ promotes a lifelong attitude to healthy living and we take a holistic approach to healthy living by providing a wide range of extracurricular activities and clubs for our students to engage in both their interests and talents. Students have the opportunity to participate in a plethora of extracurricular activities such as STEM, Sports, Quran recitation, Chess, Football, creative arts, and much more.

International Assessments

MAP® Growth™

MAP® Growth™ measures what students know and informs what they’re ready to learn next. By dynamically adjusting to each student’s responses, MAP Growth creates a personalized assessment experience that accurately measures performance. Timely, easy-to-use reports help teachers teach, students learn, and administrators lead.Every question on a MAP Growth assessment is calibrated to RIT scale. Because the equal-interval scale is continuous across grades, educators can trust it to track longitudinal growth over a student’s entire career. Putting assessment into action means using MAP Growth data to pinpoint the instructional areas where students are ready to tackle—whether they are on, above, or below grade level. It reveals how much growth has occurred between testing events and, when combined with our norms, shows projected proficiency. Educators can track growth through the school year and over multiple years.

Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) is a diagnostic assessment designed to help students and their teachers understand how they learn and what their academic potential might be. It assesses how students think in areas known to make a difference in learning. CAT4 is available at seven different levels of difficulty. Schools use a child’s performance in a CAT4 to judge progress over the academic year and to make decisions regarding setting and streaming according to ability. It is a way for a school to understand a student’s strengths and weaknesses and to personalize learning and adapt teaching.
