What to expect

At LISQ, we believe that a strong foundation in education starts at the very beginning. Our Kindergarten program is designed to provide an exceptional learning experience that prepares young learners for a lifetime of success. We are proud to offer a curriculum aligned with the California Common Core standards, ensuring that your child is well-equipped for their educational journey ahead.

Interactive Learning that Inspires

Our Kindergarten program is all about engaging, hands-on, and interactive learning. We understand that young children learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process. In our classrooms, you’ll find students exploring, experimenting, and discovering the world around them through various activities.

Infusing Play, Speaking, and Listening

We know that play is a vital aspect of a child’s development, and it is integrated into our curriculum. Through play, children develop essential skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and social interaction. Our educators foster an environment where play seamlessly intertwines with learning.

In our Kindergarten program, we prioritize the development of strong communication skills. Students engage in activities that encourage speaking and listening, helping them express their thoughts, ideas, and feelings effectively. These skills are the building blocks of future academic success and personal development.

Embracing Technology for Enhanced Learning

In today’s digital age, we understand the importance of preparing our students for a technology-driven world. That’s why we’ve incorporated technology into our Kindergarten program. Our students have digital access to a range of educational programs, including StarFall, RAZ-Kids, and i-Read Arabic. These tools provide a fun and interactive way for students to reinforce their learning while developing digital literacy skills.

Supporting Student Learning and Growth

At LISQ, we are dedicated to the growth and development of every child. Our Kindergarten program goes beyond academics; we focus on nurturing the whole child. Our caring and experienced teachers provide a supportive and inclusive environment where each student can thrive.

Transition to elementary school

The transition from kindergarten to the Elementary Section can be exciting but also possibly challenging for the student. Our school members understand this. They work hard to make this transition go smoothly by providing quality transition activities to prepare the students for the next step. This involves a range of visits to the grade 1 classes towards the end of the school year to familiarize the students with the new classes and members of staff so that they can start settling in preparation for the next year.

Students participate in multiple assessments to include MAP, CAT4, ABT and baseline assessments in core subject areas. Assessment data is used to determine the student’s strengths and next steps for progress as well as learning preferences so that teachers can set individual targets for students. Assessment data is further used to determine what support is needed to help students make those targets. Throughout the year, assessments are used to set specific growth targets and next steps for students.

Please contact your child’s teacher first so that she can address your concerns whether they be academic or behavioral concerns. You and your child’s teacher are a team working together towards the progress of your child.

Marks are a reflection of attainment and progress at LISQ. Expect marks and feedback to reflect the attainment level and the progress towards their targeted goals in each of their subjects.

Each year teachers look closely at rosters to determine the best placements for learners based on their learning needs. We encourage students to make new friends each year and for parents to support us in teaching students that change is a process that helps each of us grow as individuals.

International Assessments

MAP® Growth™

MAP® Growth™ measures what students know and informs what they’re ready to learn next. By dynamically adjusting to each student’s responses, MAP Growth creates a personalized assessment experience that accurately measures performance. Timely, easy-to-use reports help teachers teach, students learn, and administrators lead.

Every question on a MAP Growth assessment is calibrated to RIT scale. Because the equal-interval scale is continuous across grades, educators can trust it to track longitudinal growth over a student’s entire career. Putting assessment into action means using MAP Growth data to pinpoint the instructional areas where students are ready to tackle—whether they are on, above, or below grade level. It reveals how much growth has occurred between testing events and, when combined with our norms, shows projected proficiency. Educators can track growth through the school year and over multiple years.

At LISQ, we recognize that in today’s interconnected and technology-centric world, the learning environment can be virtual, online, remote as well as the physical place of learning such as a classroom or library. Through the application of Onelogin, we aim to make the access to learning anytime and anywhere possible.

Developing students’ critical thinking and social engagement with Onelogin is an essential ingredient to modern pedagogy.

The Liwa Education E-Learning portal is designed to support parents, students, and teachers to make effective use of the online learning opportunities within our schools to support achievement and engagement across all our subject areas.

We encourage you to take the time to understand more about the products and applications on offer and how they can be used to support anytime, anywhere learning and engagement.
