At LISQ, we believe that the elementary years are pivotal in laying a strong educational foundation for every child. Through a balanced mix of traditional and innovative teaching methods, our staff places significant emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and holistic growth.

In the formative lower primary years, our curriculum is enriched with a strong focus on English and Arabic subjects as well as the integration of art and music, ensuring that our students receive a well-rounded exposure from the very beginning.

Recognizing the importance of hands-on learning, LISQ has incorporated a STEM program into the elementary curriculum. Through this program, students get the chance to delve into the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in an interactive and engaging manner.

This hands-on approach not only enhances comprehension but also encourages students to think creatively and problem-solve, skills that will serve them well in later years.

Beyond the classrooms

Beyond the standard curriculum, LISQ offers a diverse range of after-school activities tailored for the elementary age group. These programs are designed to cultivate passions, develop skills, and foster a love for learning outside the traditional classroom setting. Central to our educational ethos is a focus on the Emirati national identity, the core competencies of Liwa Education, and fostering innovative skills and practices. We believe in addressing each student’s unique needs, delivering insightful feedback, and maintaining the gold standard in teaching practices.

Pastoral care

LISQ offers comprehensive pastoral care. Ourstudents are supported by our class teachers, teaching assistants, section supervisors, and the leadership team at LISQ. From the moment they arrive at school in the morning to parent collection time, our students’ happiness and safety are at the heart of everything we do. Attendance is monitored very closely and parents are contacted by the Social worker if there are any concerns. Equally, if parents have any concerns with their children, they can contact the school and arrange to meet with the class teacher, supported by the social worker or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Wraparound care

We have two full-time social workers that can provide social counseling. We have an SEN department that can provide academic and social support.

Our teachers

At LISQ we hire teachers with education, experience, and a passion for education. Each class consists of a teacher and a teaching assistant which partner together to provide a robust learning environment for our students. Our diverse team brings their expertise and innovative ideas to the school from all over the world. Our team is constantly engaged in developing and improving by participating in learning opportunities throughout the year.

Transition to Middle school

We believe that the transition from the Elementary Section to Middle School is an exciting time for the students. They can expect to gain new friendships, more independence, and experience a broad range of new activities. Our role is to prepare them by empowering their self-esteem, and confidence and making them familiar with their new routines and responsibilities. We work in partnership with our Middle School colleagues to provide transition activities that enable the students to feel safe and ready for this next step. These involve visits and meetings with Middle School staff in preparation for the start of the academic year.

International Assessments

MAP® Growth™

MAP® Growth™ measures what students know and informs what they’re ready to learn next. By dynamically adjusting to each student’s responses, MAP Growth creates a personalized assessment experience that accurately measures performance. Timely, easy-to-use reports help teachers teach, students learn, and administrators lead.Every question on a MAP Growth assessment is calibrated to RIT scale. Because the equal-interval scale is continuous across grades, educators can trust it to track longitudinal growth over a student’s entire career. Putting assessment into action means using MAP Growth data to pinpoint the instructional areas where students are ready to tackle—whether they are on, above, or below grade level. It reveals how much growth has occurred between testing events and, when combined with our norms, shows projected proficiency. Educators can track growth through the school year and over multiple years.

Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) is a diagnostic assessment designed to help students and their teachers understand how they learn and what their academic potential might be. It assesses how students think in areas known to make a difference in learning. CAT4 is available at seven different levels of difficulty. Schools use a child’s performance in a CAT4 to judge progress over the academic year and to make decisions regarding setting and streaming according to ability. It is a way for a school to understand a student’s strengths and weaknesses and to personalize learning and adapt teaching.
